College Notes: Oconto County graduates

Northern Michigan

Mariah Karnitz, Suring, earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Northern Michigan University in December.

University of Iowa

In December, more than 1,800 University of Iowa undergraduate, graduate and professional students graduated under extraordinary circumstances. Drew Demeny, of Abrams, is one of only 157 graduates to earn multiple degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in English education from the College of Education.

UW-Eau Claire

Rebecca Roy, Townsend, earned Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

UW-La Crosse

The following area students completed degree requirements at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in December:

Erin Balthazor, Gillett, earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, concentrating on biomedical science.

Jaclyn Erickson, Abrams, earned a Bachelor of Science in public health and community health education.

UW-Madison

Nearly 3,000 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison during a virtual commencement ceremony Dec. 13.

Brittany Russell, Abrams, earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering, graduating with distinction.

Luke Vandenheuvel, Abrams, earned a Bachelor of Science in computer sciences and mathematics.

UW-Oshkosh

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh students received diplomas in December during the university’s 56th midyear commencement. The degrees became official Jan. 22.

Riley Decleene, Oconto, earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the university’s College of Business.

Makenna Kussow, Oconto Falls, earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the College of Letters and Science.

UW-Platteville

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville awarded diplomas to nearly 600 students from its three campuses for the summer and fall of 2020. Because of COVID-19, no ceremonies were held but will be rescheduled at a later date.

Wesley Brabant, Oconto, earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Tyler Hischke, Gillett, earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.

Dylan Marquardt, Lena, earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology management.

Derek Schroeder, Sobieski, earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

UW-River Falls

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls conferred degrees on 420 students following commencement in December.

Faith Buhrandt, Suring, earned a Bachelor of Science in food science and technology, graduating magna cum laude.

Lane Hischke, Suring, earned a Bachelor of Science in dairy science.

Courtney Stelzer, Suring, earned a Bachelor of Science in animal science.

Rebecca Wolfe, Gillett, earned a Bachelor of Science in animal science.

UW-Stevens Point

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point conferred degrees nearly 500 graduates for the fall 2020 semester.

Alayna Burch, Oconto Falls, earned a Bachelor of Science in communication sciences and disorders.

Stephanie Kurek, Oconto Falls, earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Matthew Marquardt, Lena, earned a Bachelor of Science in fish and water resources, concentrating on fisheries and aquatic sciences.

Adrian Ossmann, Gillett, earned a Bachelor of Science in health science, concentrating on health care administration and graduating summa cum laude.

Elizabeth Tomashek, Sobieski, earned a Bachelor of Science in family and consumer science, as well as a degree in psychology, graduating cum laude.

Amber VanDenHeuvel, Oconto, earned a Bachelor of Science in resource management, concentrating on environmental education and interpretation.

UW-Stout

The following students from the area graduated in December 2020 from University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie.
