College Highlights (Sept. 9)

UW-River Falls

Shawano Community High School graduate Crede Timm did a little bit of everything during the UW-River Falls football team’s win over Elmhurst on Sept. 3.

Timm completed a 28-yard pass and punted two times. His punts traveled a combined 94 yards and pinned Elmhurst inside its 20-yard line twice.

Gage Timm, another Shawano grad, was credited with a solo tackle in the contest.

UW-Whitewater

Bonduel graduate Jessica LaBerge served as the fifth golfer for the second UW-Whitewater women’s team competing at the Battle on the Border Tournament on Sept. 2-3. The second team earned a fourth-place overall finish.

LaBerge fired 18-hole rounds of 88 on both days of competition.

Shawano grad Baylie Hansen helped the UW-Whitewater volleyball team to a win over Finlandia during the Wisconsin Blast Tournament on Sept. 3.

Hansen recorded four attack kills, one dig, a solo block and an assisted block across two sets played.

UW-La Crosse

Pulaski graduate Maggie Hernandez helped lead the UW-La Crosse women’s soccer team to a pair of wins last week.

Hernandez scored her team’s lone goal in a win over California Lutheran on Sept. 1. She took four shots, one on goal, during the team’s 1-0 win over Chapman on Sept. 3.

UW-Eau Claire

Bonduel graduates Isaac Garside and Parker Bohm each played for the UW-Eau Claire football team in its win over Loras on Sept. 3.

Garside caught five passes for 33 yards and rushed four times for four yards. He also returned a kickoff 65 yards and recovered a fumble on a Loras punt return.

Bohm served as the team’s long snapper for three kick attempts in the contest.

UW-Stevens Point

Oconto Falls graduate Dakota Carriveau and Tigerton graduate Mitch Zimdars each were credited with tackles in the UW-Stevens Point football team’s loss to Mayville State on Sept. 3.

Carriveau tallied two solo tackles, while Zimdars had an assisted tackle.

UW-Green Bay

Shawano grad Grace Beyer turned in a 12th-place individual finish in her first cross-country race for the UW-Green Bay women’s team.

Beyer finished the Tom Barry Invitational in 21 minutes, 4.58 seconds.

Marian University

Menominee Indian grad Tehya Pyawasay played in three matches for the Marian volleyball team at the Central-Grinnell Invitational on Sept. 2-3.

Pyawasay recorded an attack kill, block assist and dig in a loss to St. Mary’s. She had a block assist in a loss to Grinnell and did not record any stats in a loss to St. Catherine.

University of Minnesota Duluth

Pulaski graduate Logan Kobus served as the punter for the Minnesota Duluth football team in its win over Southwest Minnesota State on Sept. 1.

Kobus punted for times, with the punts covering 133 total yards for a 33.2 average. Two of the punts pinned Southwest Minnesota State inside its 20-yard line.

UW-Oshkosh

Oconto Falls grad Mac Winkler received six touches for the UW-Oshkosh football team in its win over East Texas Baptist University on Sept. 3.

Winkler rushed five times for 27 yards, including a long run of 16 yards. He also caught one pass.

Wisconsin Lutheran College

Menominee Indian graduate Allen Smith was credited with two total tackles in the Wisconsin Lutheran College football team’s loss to Lake Forest on Sept. 3.

Smith had one solo tackle and one assisted tackle.

Ripon College

Gillett graduate Angela Mosconi opened her college cross-country career with a 20th-place individual finish for the Ripon College women’s team at the Tom Barry Invitational on Sept. 3.

Mosconi finished the race in 21:29.15.
