College Highlights (Oct. 28)

UW-La Crosse

Pulaski High School graduate Maggie Hernandez had a monster week on the field for the UW-La Crosse women’s soccer team.

She scored four goals and added an assist in the team’s 7-0 win over Dubuque on Oct. 19. In total, Hernandez took eight shots, with five on goal. Hernandez became the fourth player in UWL history to score at least four goals in a game.

The Pulaski grad added an assist in the team’s 3-0 win over UW-La Crosse on Oct. 22. She also took four shots, with two on goal.

Hernandez now has six goals and five assists on the season, and has helped UWL to a 15-1-1 record.

Grand Canyon University

Wittenberg-Birnamwood grad Wyatt Dickman continued his strong start to his sophomore season while helping the Grand Canyon University men’s swim team to two wins over Seattle University on Oct. 21-22.

On Oct. 21, Dickman was on the first-place finishing 200-yard medley relay team that posted a time of 1 minute, 32.57 seconds. He placed first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:49.4.

The following day, Dickman won the 1,000 freestyle (10:01.03) and 200 breaststroke (2:06.73).

UW-River Falls

Shawano graduates Gage and Crede Timm both played in the UW-River Falls football team’s rout of UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 22.

Gage Timm had four total tackles, with three being solo and one being assisted. He was also credited for a ½ tackle for loss and returned a kickoff 8 yards.

Crede Timm punted four times for 144 combined yards. He had a long punt of 51 yards.

UW-Eau Claire

Bonduel grad Isaac Garside turned in a strong game for the UW-Eau Claire football team despite its loss to UW-River Falls on Oct. 22.

Garside hauled in a 49-yard touchdown reception for the team’s lone score in the game. He finished with six catches for 89 yards, rushed four times for 19 yards and returned five kickoffs for 101 combined yards.

Former Bonduel grad Parker Bohm served as the UWEC football team’s long snapper on the extra point try.

Oconto Falls grad Autumn Canavera and Gillett grad Ryann Wagner both ran for the UW-Eau Claire women’s cross-country team City Wells 5K on Oct. 21.

Canavera placed seventh in 20:02, while Wagner was 22nd in 21:09.

Colorado Mesa University

Pulaski graduate Sadie Kelley tied for 52nd place while golfing for the Colorado Mesa women’s team at the Nick Turner Invitational on Oct. 16-18.

Kelley had a total score of 161 after firing rounds of 81 and 80.

Concordia-St. Paul

Pulaski grad Andrew Egnarski led the Concordia-St. Paul football team with 10 total tackles in its loss to Northern State on Oct. 22.

Egnarski was credited with five solo tackles and five assisted tackles. He also forced a fumble.

For the season, Egnarski has 29 solo tackles, 25 assisted tackles, 1½ tackles for losses and a forced fumble.

UW-Green Bay

Witt-Birn graduate McKenna Metropulos helped form two relay teams for the UW-Green Bay women’s swim team at the Wisconsin Showcase on Oct. 22.

The 400 freestyle relay team she was on placed second in 3:43.41. Metropulos and the 200 medley relay team came in third in 1:51.27.

University of Minnesota Duluth

Pulaski grad Logan Kobus punted twice for the University of Minnesota Duluth football team during its loss to Bemidji State on Oct. 22.

Kobus’ two punts traveled a combined 70 yards, with a long of 37 yards.

He also served as the team’s holder on kick attempts.

UW-Stevens Point

Pulaski graduates Gracie Mihalski and T.J. Shaw each swam for the UW-Stevens Point swim team during dual losses to UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 22.

Shaw placed fifth in the 1,000 freestyle (10:51.65), sixth in the 500 freestyle (5:13.14) and 16th in the 100 freestyle (54.82) while also helping form the 10th-place finishing men’s 400 freestyle relay (3:47.11).

Mihalski was on the seventh-place finishing women’s 400 freestyle relay (4:09.69) and ninth-place finishing 200 medley relay (2:07.95). Individually, she placed 11th in the 50 freestyle (27.87) and 12th in the 100 backstroke (1:11.24).

University of Minnesota Morris

Menominee Indian grad Bryce Dixon was credited with an assisted tackle in the University of Minnesota Morris football team’s win over Martin Luther on Oct. 22.

Dixon now has three assisted tackles for the season to go along with two receptions for 29 yards.

Carroll University

Pulaski graduate Jake Binkowski and Shawano grad Kaleb Lowney each recorded tackles for the Carroll University football team in a loss to Wheaton on Oct. 22.

Binkowski led the team with seven total tackles, with each one being a solo tackle. He also got one hit on the opposing quarterback.

Lowney was credited with one solo tackle.

Wisconsin Lutheran College

Menominee Indian grad Allen Smith registered a solo tackle in the Wisconsin Lutheran College football team’s win over Eureka on Oct. 22.

Smith is now up to three total tackles on the season.
