College Highlights (Jan. 21)

Marian

Oconto Falls High School graduate McKayla Goebel played in three games for the Marian University women’s basketball team last week.

Goebel tallied seven points, four rebounds and an assist in 20 minutes of action in the team’s loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Jan. 11.

She played 19 minutes in the team’s loss to Rockford on Jan. 13, tallying nine points, eight rebounds and a steal.

Goebel recorded a point, three rebounds, three steals and two assists in 24 minutes of play against Concordia Chicago on Jan. 15. Marian won the contest 67-62.

Cardinal Stritch

Gillett grad Aubrey DeBauch produced while coming off the bench for the Cardinal Stritch University women’s basketball team in a pair of games last week.

DeBauch recorded 10 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes and a win over Calumet on Jan. 12.

In a loss to Holy Cross on Jan. 15, DeBauch tallied seven points, four rebounds, four assists and a block in 29 minutes of play.

Wisconsin Lutheran

Pulaski graduate Trevor Stiede and Bonduel graduate Carson Robaidek each logged minutes in the Wisconsin Lutheran College men’s basketball team’s two wins last week.

In a victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Jan. 12, Stiede played 19 minutes and tallied 11 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal. Robaidek grabbed a rebound in three minutes of action.

Stiede started and recorded 11 points, five assists, two steals and a rebound in 22 minutes and a win over Dominican on Jan. 15. Robaidek played nine minutes, tallying four points and a rebound.

Bonduel graduate Kara Troxel played in both of the WLC women’s basketball team’s wins last week.

Troxel played 13 minutes and had two rebounds in a win over St. Norbert on Jan. 11. She then tallied three points and an assist in 11 minutes and win over Dominican on Jan. 15.

North Central

Bonduel grad Isaac Banker placed sixth in the 285-pound weight class while representing the North Central College wrestling team at the Al Hanke Invitational on Jan. 15.

Banker’s day started with a pin before he dropped a 4-1 decision. He bounced back with a 4-0 decision win and then had a pin in his next match. Banker’s day ended with an 8-7 decision loss in the fifth-place match.

Grand Canyon

Wittenberg-Birnamwood graduate Wyatt Dickman enjoyed a big day during a dual meet on Jan.15 while representing the Grand Canyon University men’s swim team.

Dickman was the top finisher in the 100-yard breaststroke after posting a time of 57.53 seconds. He claimed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.12).

Dickman was also on the top-finishing 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:25.45 and the fifth-place finishing 200 freestyle relay team that had a time of 1:29.82.

Winona State

Gillett grad Sylvia Hansen and Witt-Birn grad Maddy Pietz each ran for the Winona State University women’s track and field team during the Minnesota State Invitational on Jan. 14.

Hansen claimed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.89.

Pietz took 11th in the 60 (8.02) and 200 (26.62) dashes.

Concordia

Bonduel graduates Kalleigh Schroeder and Derrick Folkman each represented the Concordia University track and field team at the Firebird Opener on Jan. 15.

Schroeder competed in three events, with her top finish being fourth in the triple jump after a leap of 9.11 meters. She was on the fifth-place finishing 4x400 relay team that had a time of 4:38.83 and placed 12th individually in the 400 (1:09.37).

Folkman ran the 3,000, taking 18th in 11:44.26.

Ripon

Witt-Birn graduate Lauren Bahr enjoyed a strong day during the Ripon College women’s swim team’s dual against St. Norbert on Jan. 15.

Individually, Bahr placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.44 and was fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.89.

Bahr was also on the second-place finishing 200 medley relay (2:01.97) and 200 freestyle relay (1:48.51).

Oakland City

Bowler graduate Reanne Kietlinski played seven minutes off the bench in the Oakland City University women’s basketball team’s loss to the West Virginia University Institute of Technology on Jan. 13.

Kietlinski grabbed an offensive rebound in her time on the court.
