BOYS WRESTLING: Shawano places sixth at Hodag Scramble
Shawano’s boys wrestling team finished in sixth place at the Rhinelander Hodag Scramble on Dec. 21. The Hawks scored 138 points, compared to 235 for their opponents.
Drake Herm earned a first-place title for Shawano.
“Drake continues to wrestle well and had a strong showing today,” coach Mike Homan said. “He was great on his feet as usual and continued to push the pace in his matches. He is a lot of fun to watch when he wrestles.”
Owen Montour placed third for Shawano.
“Owen had a good day today,” Homan said. “He wrestled well and improved since last week. Owen beat an opponent last week at the holiday classic 6-2; today he tech-falled that opponent and followed it up with a third-place finish.”
Dylan Gartner and Dane Hodkiewicz each took fourth. Connor Chelberg took fifth.
Chris Hammen-Jung, Austin Stickney and Kody Popelka each placed ninth.
Rounding out the team, Mason Theis and Brayen Boivin each placed 11th, Jorel Matchopatow took 12th, and Drew Chelberg and Jack Deitz each placed 13th.
