The Bowler High School volleyball team is battling low roster numbers as its fall season gets underway.

Bowler, which is coached by Brad Brei, graduated five seniors from last year’s team that finished 13-12 overall and 2-4 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-North Division. The team made it to a regional final in the postseason before being eliminated.

Brei said the team only had 11 eligible players near the start of the season and returns just two starters.

Seniors Tynea Johnson (outside hitter, defensive specialist) and McKayla Putnam (middle blocker, right side, setter) are the two starters back.

Senior Skye Breitrick (setter, outside hitter), juniors Morgan Paiser (middle blocker) and Tia Kroening (setter, outside hitter, defensive specialist) and sophomore Brandi Spencer (setter, outside hitter) also have varsity experience.

Sophomore Shianne Pike (middle blocker, right side) and freshmen Weengeetah Mohawk (outside hitter), Bertina Dodge (outside hitter) and Isabella Stevens (middle blocker) are some players who could also figure into the varsity rotation this fall.
