BONDUEL — The village of Bonduel is taking special precautions for Tuesday’s election day voting in light of health and safety concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clerk/Treasurer Michelle Maroszek said the village will be following the recommended guidelines for distance and numbers of voters/people in village hall at one time.

“All workers will have personal protective equipment available to wear and use,” she said. “Sneeze guards will be used at registration tables and individual pens and styluses we be provided for each voter to use.”

There will also be a hand sanitizer dispenser as voters walk in to vote.

Some areas of the state have had problems finding poll workers given the coronavirus concerns, but Bonduel has secured a sufficient number for Tuesday’s election, Maroszek said.

“We will be running with minimum numbers,” she said. “Most of our normal poll workers have opted out of working this election do to the coronavirus.”

Absentee voting that’s already taken place could significantly cut down the number of people the village will have to manage on Tuesday.

Maroszek said there has been a high number of absentee ballots cast.

“Normal elections we have approximately 20 absentee ballots that we send out,” she said. “We are well over 200 absentee ballots cast already for this election and have one more day (Friday) of in-house absentee voting.”

Polls will be open at Village Hall, 117 W. Green Bay St., from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
