Bonduel finishes fourth, Lena is fifth at state golf meet
Bonduel dropped from second place to fourth after the second day of play at the WIAA Division 3 state championship at Blackwolf Run in Kohler. Lena remained in fifth place June 3 and again June 4.
Mineral Point was the eventual champion, with scores of 156 the first day and 327 the second day for a total of 483. On the first day, play was shortened to nine holes due to weather.
After a 168 on the first day, the Bears had a 351 on the second day for a 519 total.
On June 4, Colin Margelofsky led Bonduel with an 85, followed by Jake Dreyer and Reed Luepke with 88s and Colin Fischer with a 90. Jaxon Bogacz had a 101.
For the two-day combined scores, Dreyer posted a 126. Margelofsky, Fischer and Luepke each had a 131, and Bogacz had a 151.
For Lena, the team scored a 172 on the first day and 348 on the second day for a 520 total, just one stroke behind Bonduel. The Wildcats also finished one stroke in front of St. Mary’s Springs’ 521.
On June 4, Lena was led by Braden McVane with a 77, followed by Mason Belongia and Drake Dionne each with an 89 and Mason Spice with a 93. Evan VanderZanden scored 98.
For their two-day totals, McVane had a 119, Belongia was at 131, Spice had 132 and Dionne scored 140. VanderZanden scored a 147.
