Temperatures soaring to near 80 degrees greeted voters as they head to the polls in the annual spring election.

Voters are deciding a statewide contest for superintendent of public instruction, an Assembly seat, local referendum questions, and a number of municipal and school board contests.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Oconto Falls, Lena and Oconto school districts are each asking taxpayers for permission to continue to exceed state-imposed levy limits in extensions of initiatives that passed four and five years ago. The Bonduel and Oconto districts are also asking voters to borrow money to fund improvements to their school buildings.

In eastern Oconto County, voters in the 89th Assembly District will be choosing a representative to succeed John Nygren, who resigned shortly after being elected to his eighth two-year term.
