BABA semifinal matchups set

Waupaca, Hortonville to play for Dairyland title

The Badger Amateur Baseball Association and Dairyland League each continued postseason play on Aug. 21, with the BABA playing division finals, and Dairyland playing semifinal games.

Little Falls, Clintonville, Antigo/Polar and Scandinavia all earned wins in the BABA, while Waupaca and Hortonville advanced to the Dairyland Grand Championship.

BABA

Two of the four BABA division finals were won in walk-off fashion.

Little Falls rallied to a 3-2 win over Tigerton in 10 innings in the West Division final, while Clintonville picked up a 5-4 win over Marion in the East Division.

Kyle Finger delivered the game-winning hit for Little Falls in the 10th frame. He finished with three hits.

Hunter Gruenwald homered for the Loggers, while Seth Korb drove in a run on two hits.

Chris Dunn earned the win for Little Falls after striking out nine batters over six innings. Carter Kurki pitched the first four innings.

Paul Sellner pitched the entire game for Tigerton, striking out eight along the way.

Pat Provoast tallied two of Tigerton’s six hits. He and Austin Hoffman drove in the team’s two runs.

Jaden Doornink, Jared Cartwright and Hunter Vollmer all tallied two hits for Clintonville in its win over Marion. Cartwright also picked up the win on the mound.

Dave Jueds got on base four times for Marion, with a hit and three walks.

Antigo/Polar toppled Aniwa 8-1 in the Northern Division final in Aniwa.

Neil Bretl, Jed Weix and Isaac Bixby all tallied three hits for Antigo/Polar, while Mason Gray, Dylan Schielke and Logan Doering chipped in two each.

AJ Kirsch earned the win on the hill, while Nolan Hoppe was tagged with the loss.

Keegan Bohlman doubled twice among his four hits for Aniwa. Kody Szews posted two hits, including a home run.

Scandinavia rolled to an 8-0 win over Plover in the South Central Division final in Scandinavia.

No other game details were available at press time.

Scandinavia will host Clintonville in one semifinal game, while Antigo/Polar hosts Little Falls in the other. Both games are scheduled for Aug. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

Dairyland

The two Dairyland games were lopsided contests.

Hortonville used a five-run fifth inning to pick up an 8-0 win over Bonduel in Hortonville.

Eli Kramer drove in two runs for Hortonville, while Kyle Stuewer and Will Salaman had two hits each.

Colan Treml earned the win after striking out seven batters over seven innings. Mason Thiel worked the final two innings.

Chase Reinke took the loss on the hill, with three of the six runs he allowed being unearned. Wyatt Reinke and Jack Reinke also pitched in the contest.

Eric Gruenwald, Adam Frost and Luke Kostreva had a hit each for Bonduel.

Waupaca knocked off Pulaski 5-0 in Waupaca.

Drew McDermid took the loss for Pulaski after striking out eight batters over five innings.

No Waupaca stats were available at press time.

Waupaca will host Hortonville in the league’s Grand Championship on Aug. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
