BABA Playoff Highlights
East Division
Clintonville 14
Gresham 4
Third-seeded Clintonville had a big day at the plate to take down second-seeded Gresham on Sunday in a East Division playoff semifinal.
Kyle Finger, Ryan Ebert and Kolin Kubitz all had three hits for Clintonville, while Aaron Morse and Jordan Koeppen added two each. Hunter Vollmer earned the win on the mound.
Cody Riemer and Pete Carroll had two hits each for Gresham, while Mitch Pleshek took the loss.
Neopit 19
Shawano 1
Top-seeded Neopit rolled past fourth-seeded Shawano in the division’s other semifinal matchup.
Alex Peters and Dallas Madosh each tallied three hits for Neopit in the victory, while Anthony Leaman had two. Peters also was the winning pitcher.
Neopit will host Clintonville in the division final on Sunday.
Alex Sumnicht and Kien Moorman each posted two hits for Shawano. Brendan Bushy took the loss.
West Division
Caroline 5
Tigerton 2
Third-seeded Caroline knocked off second-seeded Tigerton in a West Division playoff semifinal.
Dylan Loveland, Brandon Bernarde, Aaron Hoffman, Neil Hoffman and Austin Hoffman each had two hits for Caroline in the win. Neil Hoffman’s hits were a homer and double, while Eric Kroening also homered. Bryson Bernarde allowed just one run over six innings to earn the win on the mound.
Paul Sellner took the loss for Tigerton. He also recorded a double at the plate.
Little Falls 15
Leopolis 0
Top-seeded Little Falls eased past fourth-seeded Leopolis in the division’s other semifinal.
Little Falls’ Carter Kurki struck out six batters over nine innings to pick up the win. Kal Fischer and Hunter Gruenwald each had three hits, while Kyle Fischer, Seth Korb and Jenner Gullixon added two hits each. One of Fischer’s hits was a home run.
Little Falls will host Caroline in the division final on Sunday.
Brandon Laabs took the loss on the mound and also doubled for one of Leopolis’ hits.
Leopolis 10
Bowler 5
To earn the No. 4 seed, Leopolis doubled up Bowler in a play-in game on Aug. 7.
Brandon Laabs earned the win for Leopolis, while Austin Wolff suffered the loss for Bowler.
Northern Division
Elderon 3
Hatley 2
Third-seeded Elderon edged second-seeded Hatley in a Northern Division playoff semifinal.
Each team finished with just five hits. Marv Meronk had two hits for Elderon, while Kyle Zblewski had two for Hatley.
MacLaen Alwes earned the win on the mound, while John Breske took the tough loss.
Birnamwood 6
Eland 4
Top-seeded Birnamwood escaped with a tight win over fourth-seeded Eland in the other semifinal.
Birnamwood will host Elderon in the division final on Sunday.
Birnamwood tallied 12 hits in the win, with Gus Turner-Zick tallying three and Corey Krull and Jacob Piotrowski with two each. Piotrowski and Zach Bembenek each homered, while Bembenek was also the winning pitcher.
Jacob Ligenza recorded three of Eland’s seven hits in the contest. Jarod Richter was the losing pitcher.
South Central Division
Waupaca 5
New London 0
Waupaca, the league’s lone unbeaten team and top seed in the South Central Division, blanked fourth-seeded New London in a semifinal matchup.
Cam Seidl struck out 15 batters over eight innings to earn the win on the hill. Luke Behm, Jon Popham and Jake Popham all had two hits for Waupaca, with Behm also driving in two runs.
Jake Hoier took the loss for New London. Scott Brerman had the team’s only hit.
Plover 11
Scandinavia 3
Second-seeded Plover cruised past third-seeded Scandinavia in the division’s other semifinal.
Plover will travel to take on Waupaca in the division final on Sunday.
Derek Lemmens and Andy Tepp each had four hits for Plover. Nate Jackan added two hits and Jake Dreves was the winning pitcher.
Scandinavia’s Willie Rosenthal also posted four hits. Jeremy Dunihoo took the loss.
