Area runners earn All-Conference honors

Shawano’s boys placed second and the girls were fourth at the Bay Conference Championships on Oct. 14 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. West De Pere was the host school.

Will Chelberg was the individual champion, and Ethan Onesti came in at No. 2. Andon Chelberg placed eight, with Josiah Kuehl in 11th and Connor Chelberg in 26th. Quinn Olson (28th) and Trevor Schwartz (31st) also competed.

Bailey Hendricks paced the girls with a fourth-place finish. The other four scorers were bunched up — Grace Chelberg in 12th, Lilly Guenther in 15th, Macy Beyer in 20th and Adalyn Barkley in 21st. Anabelle Schroeder (23rd) and Arica Preston (29th) also competed.

Northeastern Conference Championships

Oconto Falls High School hosted the Northeastern Conference Cross Country Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay cross country course Oct. 13.

Junior Ben Adams was the boys individual conference champion while helping the boys finish third as a team. Ben Adams, Griffin Kopke (ninth) and Isaiah Holtz earned All-Conference honors.

Brant Laluzerne placed 30th, Emerson Rice was 41st, Sage Mendolla placed 44th and Landon Timm was 46th.

The girls finished third while running in a pack – Brooke Hodkiewicz (fourth), Hailey Delzer (10th), Emma Meissner (16th), Hannah Ludemann (19th) and Ava Hodkiewicz (27th). Brooke Hodkiewicz, Delzer, Meissner and Ludemann earned All-Conference honors.

Also competing were Maddy Przybylski (41st) and, Mackenzie Lotto (42nd).

Marinette & Oconto Conference Meet

Gillett freshman Hope Soper and sophomore Bradyn Wendorff were conference champions at the Marinette & Oconto Conference Meet at the Nicolet Country Club in Laona on Oct. 12.

Soper completed the course in 21:40.7. Wendorff’s time was 16:55.1.

Sophia Limberg placed eighth, Lily Hansen was ninth and Maggie Kaczmarek placed 10th. Erica Swille ended in 20th.

Suring’s Georgia Gerndt placed third in 22:20.4. Ginger Gerndt placed 11th, while Allyson Seibert was 12th. Samantha Seibert placed 16th, and Natalie Seibert was 17th.

Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy’s Aspynn Anderson was fourth in 22:33.6. Adrena Rabas was sixth, with Haley VanArk finishing 14th and Miriam Alberts in 15th. Kali Fischer placed 19th.

In team scores, Coleman finished first, followed by Gillett, Lena/St. Thomas and Suring.

In the boys race, Gillett’s Scott Herroux ran to a fifth-place finish, while Ben Peterson was seventh and Nash Stage was eighth. Zander Davis was 14th.

Lena/St. Thomas’ Mason Belongia led his team with a ninth-place spot, and Erik Kosch was 10th. Dominic Tanguay placed 20th, Mason Spice was 23rd and Dane Comins was 25th. Dash Comins placed 27th, with Robert Alberts placing 28th.

Suring’s Garrett School led his team with a 30th-place finish. Liam Mateski placed 33rd.

Gillett won in team points, followed by Coleman, Oneida Nation, Crivitz and Lena/St. Thomas.

FRCC Championships

Daniel Augustine led the Pulaski boys cross country team with a 15th-place finish at the Fox River Classic Conference Championships hosted by De Pere High School at Shorewood Park in Green Bay on Oct. 12. The team recorded 126 points.

Augustine, a junior, completed the course in 17:07.4. He was joined by Dayne Nowak in 26th, Arden Gillen in 38th, Peyton Yaw in 43rd and Parker Marshall in 54th.

Also running were Dayne Groth (58th), Thomas Murphy (61st) and Enrique Stange (66th).

The Pulaski girls did not field a team; however, Olivia Stedl placed 10th in 20:07 and Emerson Fabry was 17th.

Central Wisconsin Conference

Fifteen teams competed at the Central Wisconsin Conference cross country meet in Rosholt on Oct. 12.

Bonduel girls took first place with 44 points and were named conference champions. All-Conference awards went to Mariah Wondra, first team; Teagan Engel, Joselyn Bohm and Ashlyn Kurey, second team; and Cierra Schnell and Hailey Berg, honorable mention.

Three team members had personal bests, and one had a season best run.

Bonduel boys took fourth place with a score of 102 points. All-Conference awards went to Ben O’Brien, first team, and Race Anvelink, honorable mention.

The boys team had nine personal bests and two season best runs.

Wisconsin Rapids Jim Newman Invitational

Gillett’s boys cross country team placed 14th out of 17 teams at the Wisconsin Rapids Jim Newman Invitational on Oct. 7.

Bradyn Wendorff led the team with a 14th-place finish in 16:51.9. He was joined by Ben Peterson in 70th, Nash Stage in 101st, Scott Herroux in 107th and Zander David in 116th.
