Do you believe in angels? The definition of an angel according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “a spiritual being serving as a divine messenger and intermediary and often as a special protector of an individual or nation.” The word angel derives from the Greek angelos, meaning “messenger.” It is used in the Bible to denote God’s attendants, with angels often depicted as being guardians of humans.

I believe in angels. I believe they are here to give us messages, hope and strengthen our faith in God. Have you ever listened to the song “Angels Among Us” by the group Alabama? I urge you to listen to this song, especially if you are having hard times or your faith is weak. Let me share some of my experiences with angels.

My husband was an over-the-road truck driver, and we were in the semi driving down the road. I was climbing on the bunk to reach something on the shelf. He had to hit the brakes. I, at that moment, felt someone lift me up and set me down on my feet on the floor, standing straight up. I did not fall or waiver. No other human being was on the truck with us. I believe it was an angel.

I find that when things or happenings in life are at their worst or become unbearable, angels come to help. They may be in the form of a friend who calls at your most desperate moment or a kind stranger helping to pay with groceries when your wallet is empty. You might say these are just coincidental acts, but are they?

This past year, I really needed angels. We moved up here from a more populated city in Wisconsin. We did not know anyone in the area. I reached out to some local churches and asked if anyone could help us unload the things we moved with. Several people (my angels) from the community church came and helped unload. What a blessing that was.

About three weeks later, my husband was hospitalized in a coma and on a ventilator. He remained on the ventilator for 38 days and in the hospital for three months. I fell to my knees and asked God to send angels, and they came. They prayed with me and held me and told me to keep believing. Today, my husband is alive and progressing in his recovery.

The angels helped strengthen my faith and give me hope through the most difficult times in my life. With all the bad and sad things happening in this world today, why not try to believe and ask for help and guidance from angels? What do you have to lose? You just may regain your faith when you feel all is lost. You may see more good than evil. Could you be the angel someone may need right now?

Bless you.
