Less than six months after introducing herself as the new director of Oconto Falls Community Library, Amy Peterson is making another move.

Peterson, who previously served as director of the Lena Public Library, is scheduled to begin work Sept. 1 as the new head librarian at Farnsworth Public Library in Oconto.

She admits the timing is terrible, but she and her family live in Oconto.

“I still have kids in school,” Peterson said, and she jumped at the opportunity to be able to attend midday concerts in school, for example.

Peterson said she has been happy in Oconto Falls and leaves with a somewhat heavy heart.

“I thought we were going in the right direction,” she said. “This is a great library, a great space.”

Oconto Falls City Administrator Peter Wills said he was working with the library board president in accepting applications for the director position, which has been posted for about two weeks.

The current Farnsworth director since 2015, Kristin Laufenberg, has accepted a position with the Outagamie Waupaca Library System. Farnsworth Public Library was built in 1903. The brick and stone, Neoclassical Revival-style building was added to the state and national registers of historical places five years ago.
