The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School track and field team had three individual athletes qualify for state after competing in the Division 2 Osceola Sectional on June 17 in Osceola.

Reese Rogowski, Jalynn Horacek and Simon Schairer will represent the Chargers at the state meet on June 25 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

To qualify for state, an individual or relay must have placed in the top four at the sectional meet. If not in the top four at the sectional, an individual could also qualify for state by having one of the eight best times or distances of all sectional performances, including the first four sectional finishers.

Rogowski qualified for state in all four of her individual events, the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes and the long jump. She placed second in the long jump (17 feet, 4 inches), 200 (25.68) and 400 (57.24) while placing third in the 100 (12.61).

Horacek and Schairer both will be competing in the triple jump. Schairer came in second (42-2¼), while Horacek was fourth (33-10¼).

Horacek also placed seventh in the 100 hurdles (17.4) and ninth in the long jump (15-0¾).

Witt-Birn’s 4x400 relay team came in 11th in 4:25.84. Emma Herb, Allison Linke, London Metropulos and Kit Stewart formed the quartet.

Metropulos tied for ninth in the high jump (4-10), while Linke was 11th in the 300 hurdles (51.63) and 12th in the 100 hurdles (18.4). Herb claimed eighth in the shot put (34-4).

Tommy Bruski took seventh in the boys 3,200 (10:28.05).
