WITTENBERG — Walls of Wittenberg has once again timed its “Fall Into Art” show to coincide with the Miles of Art festival.

“Miles of Art is an exciting time for us at the WOWSPACE, as many of the artists will be on site to talk with visitors — sharing their experiences, stories and expertise,” said Elaine Diffor, WOW’s event coordinator.

Six artists, three from Shawano County, will have their art on display and for sale at the WOWSPACE, 114 Vinal St.

Scott Lawton, Wittenberg, has a variety of beautiful wooden bowls made out of cherry, ash, box elder and walnut.

Popular photographer Jim Leuenberger has both framed and matted photos on display and for sale. From Shawano, he is well known for starting the Shawano County barn quilts program.

Jean Sredl is also from Shawano and specializes in fiber and textile art. When she retired from her CPA business in 2011, her husband gave her a textile art kit for Christmas. What started out as a hobby has turned into a passion.

“I draw my inspiration from nature, music and emotions of the inner mind, such as joy or frustration,” said Sredl.

Generally, the artists are on hand for the Miles of Art weekend, but Sredl won’t be able to attend this year as she is also opening a show in Tucson, Arizona. This is the second appearance for her at the WOWSPACE.

David Windey is from De Pere, and this is his first time showing his art in a WOW/Miles of Art show. Earlier this summer, he installed a commissioned art piece in the WOW Art Park.

“Tranquilatree” is a 1,000-pound metal sculpture of a tree with 7,500 leaves of metallicized plastic attached. He has two smaller versions on display in the art park. Inside the WOWSPACE, the dragon and the cactus sculptures are catching the attention and admiration of visitors, according to Diffor.

Hilary Rinke, of Mosinee, specializes in glasswork.

This is Carmen Duran’s first show at the WOWSPACE. She makes her home in Stratford and has been building a following with her lively and colorful floral paintings of acrylic and mixed media. Currently, her work is on display at four other galleries.

The artists at the WOWSPACE for the Miles of Art weekend are sponsored by Ho-Chunk Gaming Wittenberg. Miles of Art weekend, part of the Shawano County Art Tour on Saturday and Sunday, will have extended hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
