‘Cooking Mom’ coming to Lena Taste of Fall

LENA — The fourth annual Taste of Fall is set for Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. at locations all around downtown Lena.

One of the main events will be Amy Hanten, TV personality and author of “The Cooking Mom” books, who will be doing a demonstration using fall foods. She will have a book available for purchase.

The North Country Kickers dancers will be stepping out and performing their new demo. There will be an amateur barbecue cook-off hosted by the Wooden Shoe, plus other food competitions. Anyone interested in competing should contact the Wooden Shoe.

Other items to round out the event will be a large craft/vendor market, blacksmith demo, Lena Fire Department’s famous chicken booyah, music, games, bounce house, youth archery, photo booth and more. The Lena Public Library plans to have sidewalk chalk available outside, with an activity called Crows in the Corn inside. Magnets, greeting cards and candy bars will be for sale, with all proceeds going to the library.

On Main Street, the Friends of the Library will be selling candy bars from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. At 1:15 p.m., Library Director Amy Peterson will be at the kid’s tent to decorate pumpkin cookies.
