Oakland City

Bowler High School graduate Reanne Kietlinski played 16 minutes and scored six points during the Oakland City University women’s basketball team’s 87-55 loss to Evangel University on Nov. 7 in Oakland City, Indiana.

Kietlinski knocked down two free throws and a pair of field goals to tally her points. She also grabbed two rebounds.

Tigerton girls basketball team hopes to continue where it left off

The Tigerton High School girls basketball team enters the winter season under the direction of a new coach and needing some underclassmen to step up.

Tigerton is coming off an 8-15 season last winter, which included a 3-7 mark in the Central Wisconsin Conference-North Division under coach Tanya Hintz.

Shawn Much is the new coach and he will have to replace a couple players that graduated from that team, but he’s excited to see what the team can do after improving down the stretch last year.

New names ready to lead Witt-Birn boys basketball team to successful season

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys basketball team anticipates a strong season despite having a bunch of new faces on the court this winter.

The Chargers posted a 12-12 record last season, going 7-5 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division under coach Garrett Rogowski. Witt-Birn graduated five seniors from that team and also lost the second-leading scorer from that team.

Deer hunters reminded to select farmland zone harvest authorizations and register harvest

As Wisconsin hunters prepare to head out for the nine-day gun deer season opening Saturday, Nov. 21, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters that registration is mandatory and easier than ever before.

Hunters should be aware of the zone, deer management unit and land type on their antlerless deer harvest authorizations and be prepared to follow all regulations.

Hunters: Avoid placing deer stands in ash trees

With deer season underway, and the 9-day gun deer season fast approaching, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters to avoid placing deer stands in or near ash trees.

Door County, plus counties in the southern half of Wisconsin and along the Mississippi River, are heavily impacted by ash trees that are dead or dying from emerald ash borer infestation and may unexpectedly snap or drop large branches.

Tree stand accidents are the leading cause of serious injury for deer hunters, making it essential to place and maintain tree stands carefully.

Wisconsin men’s basketball head coach Greg Gard announced Wednesday that high school seniors Chucky Hepburn, Chris Hodges and Matthew Mors have signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin.

The trio of ESPN four-star recruits will join the Badger men’s basketball roster beginning with the 2021-22 season.
