A pair of Aarons pulled off an NFL hat trick on Feb. 6.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers earned his third Associated Press Most Valuable Player award, while Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald took his third top defensive player prize at NFL Honors.

Also taking home awards were two members of the Washington Football Team: quarterback Alex Smith was the Comeback Player of the Year in one of the most inspirational stories of 2020, and edge rusher Chase Young got the top defensive rookie.

Brewers shore up infield by adding Wong

Kolten Wong is leaving St. Louis behind but staying in the NL Central as the Milwaukee Brewers reshape the right side of their infield by adding a Gold Glove second baseman

Wong and the Brewers finalized their $18 million, two-year contract on Feb. 5, a deal that includes a 2022 club option.

Milwaukee is making room for Wong in their infield by shifting Keston Hiura from second base to first base.

St. Louis had declined a $12.5 million 2021 option for Wong in December, making him eligible for free agency.

Woodson elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame

Defensive back Charles Woodson, who played seven seasons (2006-12) for the Green Bay Packers and was a member of teams that made the playoffs five times, won the division three times, reached the NFC Championship two times and brought the Packers their fourth Super Bowl, was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made Feb. 6 by the Hall of Fame’s selection committee.

Packers Hall of Fame Inc. postpones 50th induction banquet

The 50th Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. Induction Banquet, which was first rescheduled from 2020 until April of this year, will be postponed until August 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Tom Konop, president of the Packers Hall of Fame Inc., announced Feb. 4.

The August date, which will be finalized once the Packers schedule is announced, will allow more time for the general public to be vaccinated.

The induction banquet will feature Charles Woodson and Al Harris as the newest inductees into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.

WIAA names Menominee Nation Arena as second host for basketball tournaments

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association named the Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh as the second venue to host the 2021 state girls and boys basketball tournaments with games scheduled for Feb. 26-27 and March 5-6, respectively.

DNR accepting submissions for 2022 stamp design contests

Have your artwork featured on a piece of history and contribute to environmental restoration efforts by entering the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ 2022 Wisconsin wild turkey, pheasant and waterfowl stamp design contests.

Artists must submit their entries by July 15 for the 2022 contests.

“The contests offer a unique opportunity for Wisconsin artists to showcase their artwork statewide while also promoting wildlife management,” said Alaina Gerrits, DNR assistant upland wildlife ecologist.

Gresham pulled away in the second half to claim a Central Wisconsin Conference-North Division victory over Tigerton on Feb. 6 in Gresham.

Hannah Cerveny scored 22 points for Gresham, while Valarie Cerveny had 12 points.

Adrienne Brady led Tigerton with 19 points. Savannah Swartz contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Gresham led 30-28 at halftime.

Wey-Fre 30

Bonduel capped a 20-0 regular season with a lopsided Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division victory over Weyauwega-Fremont on Feb. 5 in Bonduel.

Allaina Robaidek and Kara Troxel each scored 12 points for Bonduel, which had assists on 18 of its 26 field goals.

2 Oconto Falls wrestlers qualify for state

Oconto Falls High School wrestlers' Graeson Pankratz and Clayton Whiting each qualified for state after competing in the Division 2 Seymour Sectional on Feb. 6.

To qualify for state, wrestlers had to place first or second in their weight class.

Pankratz and Whiting both came in first. Pankratz won the 113-pound weight class, while Whiting claimed the top spot in the 182 weight class.

Nine total Oconto Falls wrestlers racked up 79.5 points for a sixth-place finish as a team. Winneconne won the sectional with 107 team points.

Wrestlers from Witt-Birn, Bonduel, Lena qualify for state

Individual wrestlers from Bonduel, Lena and Wittenberg-Birnamwood all qualified for state after competing in the Division 3 Valders Sectional on Feb. 6.

To qualify for state, wrestlers had to place either first or second in their respective weight class.

Witt-Birn's David Gauderman (220-pound weight class) posted a perfect record on the day to take first and punch his ticket to state.

Bonduel's Tyson Bogacz (145) and Max Sokolski (152) each placed second to qualify for state. Lena's Dylan Comins (106) also placed second to earn a spot at state.
