Tigerton shuts down Bowler on volleyball court

Tigerton 3, Bowler 1

Tigerton defeated Bowler in a close home match with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-19.

Sienna Breaker led the Tigers with 19 digs. Jade Selle notched 14; Aaliyah Lederhaus had 13, and Danika Tiller and Lillian Welch had 10 each.

Tiller led with 18 assists.

Presley Stewart-Rolfs tallied 10 kills, while Selle had seven and Lederhaus had five.

Sept. 27

Port Edwards 50, Marion/Tigerton 22

Port Edwards started scoring in the first quarter and didn’t let up until the final buzzer as they put a damper on Marion/Tigerton’s homecoming with a 50-22 win.

Port Edwards was up 34-0 before Braylon Mielke scored on a 2-yard run to make the score 34-8 at halftime.

Then, down 42-8 in the third quarter, Mielke scored again, this time on a 48-yard run. That was followed by a 23-yard touchdown pass from Joey Zimdars to Logan Zietlow to make it 42-22.

Chargers place fourth at Eau Claire North

Husky Invite

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s swimmers captured fourth place out of 11 teams at Eau Claire North.

The Chargers collected 173 points. Wausau West won the invite with 282 points.

After the 1-meter diving event, Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Kelsie Davis, Reese Dickman, Faith Resch and Olivia Bessette won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:58.77. Teammates Addison Schmid, Chloe Hanson, Rylee Crick and Claire Timm placed 11th in 2:21.63.

Tigerton volleyball loses 3 close games

Port Edwards 3, Tigerton 0

Tigerton hosted Port Edwards and lost in three sets with scores of 23-25, 24-26, and 22-25.

Presley Stewart-Rolfs had eight kills, with Aaliyah Lederhaus getting four, and Danika and Sienna Breaker with three each. Tiller led the team with 14 assists.

Jade Selle and Angel Welch had 15 digs each. Lederhaus had 13, and Tiller had 12.

Stewart-Rolfs recorded one block kill.

Bonduel, Gresham, Marion win volleyball matches

Sept. 24

Bonduel 3, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 0

Bonduel won in three sets over Wittenberg-Birnamwood 25-17, 25-15 and 25-11.

Audrey Weier led Bonduel with 16 kills. Juliana Jacobs and Audrey Jacobs each chipped in seven kills. Josie Anvelink led the team in digs and aces with 17 digs and three aces. Paige Niquette had 20 assists and Jayla Reinke had 17 assists.

Bonduel is now 12-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference.

Bonduel runners break the tape at Eagle Invitational

Eagle Invitational

Bonduel’s boys and Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s girls were the first-place teams at the Middle Village Cross Country Course in Keshena.

For Bonduel, Race Anvelink placed first followed by Griffin Uelmen in fourth, Oliver Chitwood in fifth, Gage Anderson in sixth and Joah Dworniczak in eighth (five members earning medals).

Garrett Anderson, Ben Reisner and Dylan Keller also ran on varsity.

Panthers win Pulaski volleyball invite

Pulaski Invite

Oconto Falls lost to West DePere in three games the first match of the day before they won the next four to win the invite including a rematch against West DePere in the championship game.

“It was nice to see the girls continue to fight and play hard after they lost that first match.,” coach Rochell Otto said. “They gained momentum and improved their play throughout the day.”

In pool play, the Panthers lost to West De Pere 25-21, 17-25, 14-16.

Gresham/Bowler soccer team still looking for conference win

Columbus Catholic 8, Gresham/Bowler 0

Gresham/Bowler remains winless in the Central Wisconsin Conference after a 8-0 shutout against Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic improved to 5-1 in conference play, while Gresham/Bowler dropped to 0-6 (1-8 overall).

Bonduel, Pulaski runners show speed, endurance

Sept. 17

Bonduel Bear Invite

The Bonduel boys cross country team won first place at their home invite, while the Wittenberg-Birnamwood team won the girls event.

For the boys, Bonduel scored 37 points, followed by Menominee Nation in second with 49, Wittenberg-Birnamwood in sixth with 168 and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in ninth with 212.

On the girls side, it was the Chargers winning with 34, followed by Bonduel in second place with 46 and Lena/St. Thomas in fourth with 97.

Panthers keep streak alive with 58-0 win

Newman Catholic 48, Tigerton/Marion 6

In a Saturday afternoon game, Tigerton/Marion lost its first game in the Central Wisconsin-8 Conference.

Tigerton/Marion is 2-1 in the conference and 3-2 overall.

Tigerton/Marion will take on Port Edwards (3-0 in conference) at Tigerton at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

Sept. 20

Oconto Falls 58, Clintonville 0

The Panthers kept their perfect season going with a 58-0 Northwoods Conference win over Clintonville.
