A total of 65,222 fans filled Lambeau Field on Aug. 5 as the Green Bay Packers once again hosted their popular Family Night.
While it is no more than a practice, those in attendance and those watching on television were able to get their first glimpse of what can be expected from the team this season.
Mother Nature provided a beautiful night for racing at the legendary half mile on Aug. 5. Jerry Wilinski, Tyler Sobiesczyk, Todd Frank, Jeremy Christians and Brad Wedde left with the checkered flag and trophy after scoring feature wins in their respective divisions.
Travis Welch and Trent Nolan led the field to the green flag for the 20-lap IMCA Stock Car feature. Nolan quickly took the lead, with Shawn Wagner following Nolan. Christians made the pass on Welch to maintain his third-place starting spot.
With the departure of Aaron Rodgers and other key players, the Green Bay Packers are in somewhat of a transition year.
With 13 draft picks and many new faces on the team, it seems likely that there will be some growing pains on the team this season. To help ease that transition, Jordan Love and a majority of the Green Bay Packers offense traveled to California to get in a summer workout.
While making the transition from a new team or from college to the NFL can be tough, Packer players in that role in training camp have seized the rare opportunity to play for the 13-time champions.
Not only was Aaron Rodgers lost in the offseason, but key Green Bay contributors like Adrian Amos, Allen Lazard and Dean Lowry have new homes as well. To supplement what it lost in the offseason, Green Bay took their chances by selecting 13 players in the 2023 NFL Draft, as well as adding a handful of rookies and veterans in free agency.
The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver Dre Miller and released tight end Camren McDonald and guard Chuck Filiaga. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Tuesday.
After seven weeks of American Legion baseball this summer, the Pulaski Legion squad saw its season come to an end at the AA State tournament in Ashwaubenon. Pulaski went 0-2 during the weekend.
In its first game, Pulaski played Region 1 winner River Falls. Despite River Falls taking the victory 11-1, this game was much closer than it seemed as a series of errors led to countless unearned runs that ultimately doomed Pulaski in the end.
Bonduel rallied past Hofa Park in extra innings on July 30 in Hofa Park. Adam Frost belted a solo home run to lead off the 11th and give the Broncos the lead.
Bonduel tied the game in the ninth when Frost scored on an error. Frost finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Eric Gruenwald also had two hits.
Coming off a very successful regular season, the Wittenberg 16U Legion team turned their attention the the state tournament in Waupun in late July. Looking to start their double elimination tournament with a bang, Wittenberg rode the arm of Hayden Miller to pick up an 8-3 win over Campbellsport.
The Shawano Ski Sharks saved the circus, and in the process, they finished in second place in Division 2 at the National Show Ski Association (NSSA) state tournament in Wisconsin Rapids on July 18-21.
All told, the team racked up more than a dozen awards as a team and individually.
