Bonduel football team dominates Northland Pines for 5th-straight win

The Bonduel High School football team dominated from start to finish in its 41-7 nonconference win over Northland Pines on Friday in Bonduel.

It marked Bonduel’s fifth-straight win. The team’s lone loss was a nonconference one to ranked Lourdes Academy back on Sept. 25.

Seniors Max Sokolski and Carson Robaidek each scored two touchdowns, with Sokolski tallying his on the ground on Robaidek hauling in a pair of passing scores from freshman quarterback Noah Weier. Seniors Max Marohl and Logan Majewski each ran for a touchdown.

Packers upset by Vikings at Lambeau

The Green Bay Packers suffered a shocking 28-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

After a strange first half that was chewed up by four long possessions, the Vikings took control with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns before holding on late for the upset win.

All seven touchdowns scored in the game were by Vikings running back Dalvin Cook or Packers wide receiver Davante Adams.

Manawa 6

Clintonville earned its first win of the season after taking down Manawa in a nonconference matchup on Saturday in Clintonville. The Truckers are now 1-3 overall.

Clintonville blocked two punts in the second quarter to set up short touchdown drives. Nathan Morse connected with Cole Rosenow on a 9-yard touchdown pass before Morse scored on a 9-yard run.

Wisconsin football team has 22 positive COVID-19 cases

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says the total number of positive COVID-19 cases within the Badgers’ football program has increased to 22.

Alvarez told ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday that 12 football players and 10 staffers have tested positive. Alvarez said school officials would decide Tuesday whether to go ahead with the ninth-ranked Badgers' scheduled Sept. 7 home game with Purdue.

“We’re still having additions in our cases, and that’s something we’ve got to get our arms around and control it,” Alvarez said.

Brewers decline 2021 options on Gyorko, Sogard, Gamel

The Milwaukee Brewers have declined 2021 options on infielders Jedd Gyorko and Eric Sogard as well as outfielder Ben Gamel.

Gyorko and Sogard each had $4.5 million options and now instead become eligible for free agency. Gyorko gets a $1 million buyout and Sogard $500,000.

Bonduel 41

Northland Pines 7

Bonduel dominated Northland Pines in a nonconference clash on Friday in Bonduel. The Bears won their fifth-straight game and are now 5-1 overall.

Max Sokolski rushed for Bonduel's first touchdown before putting the finishing touches on the Bears' win with a second rushing score. Noah Weier connected with Carson Robaidek for a pair of touchdowns through the air.

Clintonville’s Foth wins 2 Bay swim events

Clintonville High School senior swimmer Brianna Foth won two individual events during the Bay Conference Championships on Thursday.

Shawano also competed, posting a third-place finish as a team. Clintonville took sixth.

The conference meet was unlike any before it, as it was split into two venues, with neither hosting spectators. Clintonville hosted Shawano and Wittenberg-Birnamwood, while Seymour hosted Marinette and New London to round out the conference.

Green Bay trying to avoid slip up

For a second straight week, the Green Bay Packers will take on an opponent with just one win.

After bouncing back from their first loss by taking care of the Houston Texans, the Packers return to Lambeau Field for an NFC North battle with the 1-5 Minnesota Vikings, a team the Packers dismantled back in week one.

After a slow start in the season opener in which Green Bay trailed 7-3 after a quarter, the Packers erupted for 19 second-quarter points and eventually led by 19 before easing to a 43-34 win.

The Adams’ show

In the Green Bay Packers’ week one victory at the Minnesota Vikings, Davante Adams stole the show. Facing a revamped cast of cornerbacks, Adams tied Don Hutson’s franchise record with 14 receptions, which he turned into 156 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-34 victory.

Adams was at it again in last week’s victory at Houston with 13 receptions for a career-high 196 yards and two touchdowns. It was the most receiving yards by any player in the league this season, though it was eclipsed by Seattle’s Tyler Lockett in the Sunday night game.
