BOYS BASKETBALL

Suring 77

Bowler 43

Suring had four players score in double figures and rolled to a nonconference road win over Bowler on Friday.

Bryce Losurdo knocked down seven 3-pointers and led Suring with 25 points. He hit four triples and had 16 points in the first half.

Ethan Hischke tallied 12 points, while Taron Haak had 11 for the Eagles. Dequez Sepulveda was the other Suring player in double figures, posting 10 points.

A total of 10 Suring players scored in the contest.

Girls Basketball: Oconto Falls finishes strong to earn road win

CLINTONVILLE — Oconto Falls senior Natalie Brauer hit the go-ahead shot with about 18 seconds to play and then secured a game-sealing offensive rebound with under five seconds left to lift the Panthers to a 54-51 North Eastern Conference victory over Clintonville on Thursday.

Despite dealing with foul trouble throughout the game and trailing by eight points with 6 minutes, 30 seconds to play, Oconto Falls was still able to secure the road win by ending the game on a 15-4 run.

Oconto Falls ended the game on a 10-2 run to take down Clintonville in a North Eastern Conference matchup on Thursday in Clintonville.

Natalie Brauer scored the go-ahead basket with 18 seconds left before McKayla Goebel and Brauer added a free throw each to seal up the win for the Panthers.

Menominee Indian 33

Lena picked up a nonconference dual win over Menominee Indian on Tuesday in Lena.

Luke Misco (113), Ayden DeCoursin (120), Alex DeCoursin (145), Cody Dellise (152) and Nathan Younger (160) all won by pin for Lena.

Sam Marquardt (126) won by technical fall for the Wildcats, while Dylan Comins (106) and Franky Umentum (170) won by forfeit.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Gillett 64

Coleman 41

Gillett picked up its seventh straight win, taking down Coleman in a Marinette & Oconto Conference matchup on Monday in Coleman.

Karissa Schaal converted 11 field goals and scored 24 points to lead Gillett on the offensive end. Aubrey DeBauch chipped in 15 points, while Sydney Young had 12. Camryn Long added seven points.

Gillett held a 42-17 halftime lead.

GILLETT — The Gillett High School girls basketball team entered the weekend on a six-game winning streak. Senior Camryn Long has helped the team find its groove over the past few weeks.

Long provides leadership and a post presence for the Tigers. She averages 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

The senior scored a season-high 13 points in a win over Gibraltar on Jan. 7, while grabbing a season-high 10 rebounds against Oconto on Dec. 27.

Oconto Falls boys basketball team hosting Military Night

The Oconto Falls High School boys basketball program will host its first annual Military Night on Friday when the Panthers take on Denmark.

The event will honor four local heroes — Leslie “Butch” Vorpahl (U.S. Navy), Robert “Bob” L. Thompson (U.S. Air Force), Robert “Bob” Maloney (U.S. Navy) and and Ron Christensen (U.S Marine Corps), as well as all veterans at the game.

OCONTO FALLS — The Oconto Falls High School boys basketball team could not recover from an early second-half run in a 67-55 North Eastern Conference loss to Clintonville on Friday.

The visiting Truckers went on an 18-2 run in the second half to break open a game that Oconto Falls controlled for most of the first half.

Carroll

Oconto Falls graduate Aaron Kurth competed in the 60-meter dash and on a relay team for the Carroll University men's track and field team at the Phoenix Invitational on Jan. 11 in Chicago.

Kurth placed third in the 60 finals, posting a time of 7.09 seconds.

He was also on the third-place finishing 4x400 relay team that earned a time of 3:38.33.

Wyoming

Oconto Falls graduate Dewey Krueger picked up another win in the Wyoming wrestling team's 17-16 loss to South Dakota State on Jan. 12.

Oconto Falls couldn't catch back up after allowing an 18-2 run to start the second half in a North Eastern Conference matchup against Clintonville on Friday in Oconto Falls.

Jarod Parsons scored 16 points to lead Oconto Falls on the offensive end of the court. Joey Walters added 12 points, while Mitchell Manns had 10.

Oconto Falls started the game on a 18-9 run.
