Twin Brother’s Supper Club opening in Oconto

The Oconto Area Chamber of Commerce has announce the Twin Brother’s Supper Club, 553 Jefferson St., Oconto, will open Dec. 13.

Owned by brothers Humberto and Santiago Morales, this new supper club will be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner Wednesday through Sunday. Breakfast and lunch will be served from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by dinner at 4 p.m.

Thanksgiving meal costs drop in 2023

The price of a traditional Thanksgiving meal in Wisconsin is 1.36% less this year, according to Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s annual Marketbasket survey that rang in at $58.86.

“After several years of steep inclines, it is nice to see prices come down, even slightly,” said WFB Director of Media Relations and Outreach Cassie Sonnentag. “Here in America’s Dairyland, we have some of the most affordable food options, making our Thanksgiving meal 3.9% less than the national average.”

Anyone adding or changing their Medicare or Healthcare.gov coverage during open enrollment should watch out for unsolicited calls claiming to help them find the best deal.

Scammers see this open enrollment period as a chance to trick people out of money and personal information, according to the Better Business Bureau. Open enrollment runs through Dec. 7 (Medicare) or Dec. 15 (Healthcare.gov).

Open enrollment has just begun, but BBB Scam Tracker has already gotten numerous reports of scam calls pretending to be from Medicare.

Stomberg honored for saving Schmidt’s life

Sixteen years ago, a coach helped save an athlete’s life, and now the athlete has helped the coach get the recognition he deserves.

Rep. Peter Schmidt, R-Bonduel, presented Shawano Community High School teacher and coach Steve Stomberg with a Hometown Hero award during the Assembly floor session Nov. 7.

“Steve Stomberg is deserving of this award for so many reasons,” said Schmidt. “Steve has been a pillar in the Shawano community for more than three decades. When he is not teaching and coaching, Steve often uses his free time to volunteer in the community.”

House concert reunites four musicians

The final show of the 2023 Cotter Creek Concert Series on Nov. 11 will reunite four musicians who have used their talents to benefit those less fortunate.

Yata Peinovich is a singer/songwriter, has a passion for performance and connects with audiences from concert stages, outdoor festivals and intimate venues. He organizes community music events and mentors emerging artists. Joy is often what listeners experience when Peinovich performs the songs he has written, and he’s written quite a few, many of which are included in his 12 original CD recordings.
